 Draft Scout A.J. Edds News
08/08/10 - LB A.J. Edds, a rookie fourth-rounder out of Iowa who was being touted for his pass-coverage skills, was lost for the season with a torn ACL in his left knee. Edds suffered the injury on Monday evening during the second of the day's practices. Edds left practice early in the workout, which took place inside the practice bubble, then returned to drills wearing a protective sleeve on his knee. Soon, he was removed from drills again, this time for good.
08/05/10 - LB A.J. Edds, a fourth-round pick, has been lost for the season to a torn ACL in his right knee and was waived/injured. He's expected to land on injured reserve. Edds had been expected to play middle linebacker in the team's third-down package as a rookie. He was a three-year starter at Iowa and finished his college career with 226 tackles (76 solo), seven interceptions and 2.5 sacks. "Obviously, there's a lot of football left out here, but A.J. looked like he had some really good promise and the ability to do some good jobs. So, we'll get him healthy and we'll get going. "This is one of the body blows you get during training camp or during the course of this season that you have to respond to. The next guy in line will have to step up and get himself ready to go. So, A.J. I'm sure, knowing him, is going to bounce back from this and knowing our medical people in there, they've done a tremendous job with whatever it is. So, he'll be ready to go soon."
