Post-Draft Outlook:BEST PICK: Running back Toby Gerhart -- The Vikings are confident Gerhart will be able to help fill the role that Chester Taylor played as Adrian Peterson's backup and also provide a bruising presence out of the backfield.
A closer look at the Vikings' picks: Round 2/51 -- Toby Gerhart, RB, 6-0, 231, Stanford: The Vikings thought enough of Gerhart that they traded their second- (No. 62) and third-round picks (No. 93) to Houston to move up 11 spots to grab him. Gerhart was the Heisman trophy runner-up last year as he rushed for 1,871 yards and 28 touchdowns. - by The Sports Xchange

Draft Scout Toby Gerhart News
08/09/14 - RB Toby Gerhart has been out 10 days due to a hip flexor. Coach Gus Bradley indicated that the projected Jaguars starter could return to action this week. It is a short week for the Jaguars however as they travel to Chicago for a game on Thursday.
08/04/14 - RB Toby Gerhart missed the team's only scrimmage in the stadium last Saturday with what was called "tightness in his leg."
"Just precautionary, general leg tightness," Gerhart said afterwards. "They gave me a day to rest it."
Gerhart had that day and the next day to rest but when it came time for Monday's practice, he was still restricted to watching practice from the sideline. Coach Gus Bradley didn't give a ringing endorsement that Gerhart would be back on the practice field soon.
"We'll see. That's more on our part with the tightness of the hip flexor," Bradley said. "I know he felt better today than he did yesterday."
With three of the top receivers already out of action, Gerhart's health is crucial to the Jaguars offense. Injuries limited Jones-Drew to 21 combined games his final two seasons with the Jaguars. That's the last type of category that Gerhart wants to have any tie-in with the man he's replacing.
04/01/14 - RB Toby Gerhart was signed as an unrestricted free agent by the Jaguars from the Vikings March 13.
12/26/13 - RB Toby Gerhart (hamstring) re-injured his hamstring in the Eagles game, did not practice Tuesday and is unlikely to play against the Lions.
12/23/13 - RB Toby Gerhart (hamstring) returned Sunday after missing the Eagles game. He tweaked the hamstring chasing down a defender who had recovered a fumble. He's unlikely to play this week.
