Post-Draft Outlook:
BEST PICK: Running back Toby Gerhart -- The Vikings are confident Gerhart will be able to help fill the role that Chester Taylor played as Adrian Peterson's backup and also provide a bruising presence out of the backfield.

A closer look at the Vikings' picks: Round 2/51 -- Toby Gerhart, RB, 6-0, 231, Stanford: The Vikings thought enough of Gerhart that they traded their second- (No. 62) and third-round picks (No. 93) to Houston to move up 11 spots to grab him. Gerhart was the Heisman trophy runner-up last year as he rushed for 1,871 yards and 28 touchdowns. - by The Sports Xchange

 Draft Scout Toby Gerhart News
01/09/13 - RB Toby Gerhart has another year to sit behind Peterson and give the Vikings one of the best backup running backs in the league. He's powerful, has a deceptive wiggle for a big back and his mileage is extremely low, obviously.
12/27/12 - RB Toby Gerhart tied his season high for carries with eight at Houston. He entered the game for good with about seven minutes left and, as starter Adrian Peterson put it, "stuck the dagger in them pretty good." The Vikings were comfortably ahead and Peterson was rested because of abdominal soreness that has been bothering him in recent weeks. Gerhart had 31 carries and a rushing touchdown, his first of the season and third in his three-year career.
12/11/12 - RB Toby Gerhart had three carries for 17 yards. It was the most carries for the backup since he had six against the Titans on Oct. 7. In the seven games prior to the Bears game, Gerhart had five carries total. Such is the life of Adrian Peterson's backup.
12/03/12 - RB Toby Gerhart had his first carry since the Nov. 4 loss at Seattle. He went back-to-back games without a carry before getting just one carry for two yards against the Packers. Gerhart hasn't had more than one carry in a game since the Oct. 7 blowout of the Titans.
11/30/12 - RB Toby Gerhart has gone back-to-back games without a carry. In his first 40 NFL games before this stretch, he had only one game in which he didn't carry the ball. Gerhart has only 32 carries on the season.
