Draft Scout Byron Maxwell News
03/12/15 - CB Byron Maxwell left the Seahawks for the Eagles Wednesday (March 11), agreeing to terms on a six-year, $63 million contract that includes a $6 million signing bonus and $25 million guaranteed.
Originally a sixth-round draft choice of the Seattle Seahawks in 2011, Maxwell (6-1, 207) recorded two interceptions and a team-high 12 passes defensed in 2014 while helping the Seahawks reach the Super Bowl for the second-consecutive season.
Maxwell appeared in 47 games (17 starts) for the Seahawks during his four-year tenure with the team, totaling 70 tackles, six interceptions, 26 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
As part of Seattle's Super Bowl XLVIII championship team, Maxwell notched 25 tackles, four interceptions, 12 passes defensed and one forced fumble in 16 games for the team. Maxwell forced a fumble of Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas that was recovered by Seahawks LB Malcolm Smith in Super Bowl XLVIII to help secure a victory for the Seahawks.
03/04/15 - CB Byron Maxwell is the marquee name on this list and seems unlikely to be back, with cornerback a position of need for some teams that have lots of cash, such as the Jaguars (where former Seattle defensive coordinator Gus Bradley is the coach) and the Eagles. Seattle is almost certain to sit out any bidding war for Maxwell.
02/03/15 - CB Byron Maxwell is the most notable free agent who may not be back next season. The team has a lot of money invested in its secondary and depending on the offers Maxwell gets, the Seahawks may not be able to match.
01/14/15 - CB Byron Maxwell, who was relegated to playing only special teams against the Panthers due to a respiratory illness, practiced fully and should be fine.
01/11/15 - CB Byron Maxwell played only on special teams while dealing with a respiratory illness all week. Tharold Simon started in his place at cornerback, though Maxwell was able to play some on special teams.
