Draft Scout Anthony McCoy News
05/29/13 - Tight end Anthony McCoy, who suffered a torn Achilles' tendon in practice last week, was waived/injured by the Seahawks.
05/24/13 - The biggest fear for NFL teams during offseason training activities (OTAs) is major non-contact injuries, and the Seattle Seahawks are the latest team to fall prey to the dreaded injury bug with tight end Anthony McCoy undergoing surgery Thursday for a torn Achilles tendon.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Ed Khalfayan at Seattle Surgery Center.
McCoy was injured during this week's OTAs and is expected to be out for at least six months. That means he'll open the season on the Physically Unable to Perform List, sidelining him for at least the first six weeks of the season, if not the full year.
McCoy caught 18 passes while starting seven games last season. He is a good athlete and complement to Zach Miller. With McCoy out, the team will have to accelerate the development of fifth-round rookie draft pick Luke Wilson. Second-year players Sean McGrath and Cooper Helfet are also in the mix for additional playing time.
Division-rival San Francisco suffered a more serious blow earlier this week when wide receiver Michael Crabtree also underwent surgery for an Achilles injury.
12/28/12 - TE Anthony McCoy (back) returned to practice on Thursday after sitting out on Wednesday.
12/27/12 - TE Anthony McCoy (back) did not practice on Wednesday.
12/11/12 - TE Anthony McCoy finished with three catches for 105 yards against Arizona, become the first Seattle receiver to top the 100-yard receiving mark this season.
