Draft Scout Sam Shields News
10/16/14 - CB Sam Shields has yet to practice this week, raising doubt about his availability for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers because of an injury sustained to his left knee in the last game. Head coach Mike McCarthy didn't provide much of an update on Shields after practice Thursday, other than to indicate Shields is behind fellow injured cornerback Tramon Williams in their recovery this week.

Shields suffered an unspecified injury to his left knee in the third quarter and didn't finish the game. Shields hasn't been ruled out from playing this Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, but a scenario in which he would be available likely will hinge on whether he can participate in practice Thursday.
10/14/14 - CB Sam Shields suffered an injury to his left knee in the third quarter of the 27-24 win at the Miami Dolphins on Sunday and didn't return to the game. Though not considered a long-term injury, the Packers won't have more information on the prognosis for Shields, the team's top cornerback, until Wednesday. Shields had his team-leading second interception earlier in Sunday's game.
10/12/14 - CB Sam Shields intercepted a pass in the second quarter, but left the game in the third with a knee injury before a Dolphins drive began. Shields said his knee just gave out, but nothing is torn. He was walking with a noticeable limp after the game, but said, "I'm alright."
03/10/14 - CB Sam Shields agreed to a four-year contract on Saturday keeping him away from unrestricted free agency.
According to ESPN, the $39 million deal includes a signing bonus of $12.5 million and pays out $30 million in the first three years: $15 million in the first season, $6 million in the second and $9 million in the third.
Shields' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, confirmed the news on Twitter: "Congrats to RSR client Sam Shields & the Green Bay Packers on the new contract!"
Shields had a breakout season after playing for a restricted free-agent tender of $2.023 million in 2013. He finished with a career-high four interceptions and had 61 tackles in 14 games.
