Draft Scout Phil Taylor News
02/22/16 - The Denver Broncos announced they have signed defensive lineman Phil Taylor, a former first-round pick by the Cleveland Browns who was released last year due to a knee injury.
Taylor was out of the NFL in 2015, but was considered one of the league's top interior run defenders while recording 40 tackles and 7.0 sacks for the Browns from 2011-14. However, he played in only five games in 2014 and has played more than half the season just twice in his career.
Taylor, who will turn 28 in April, provides some veteran insurance in case the Broncos lose Malik Jackson in free agency.
09/01/15 - DT Phil Taylor had his contract terminated by the Browns with an injury settlement Tuesday (Sept. 1). He was slow to recover from knee surgery last season. The Browns believe with the additions made to the defensive line, particularly first-round draft pick Danny Shelton, they could absorb the loss of Taylor despite owing him nearly $5.5 million in guaranteed money. Taylor, picked 21st in the 2011 draft, played all 16 games as a rookie but after that was limited to eight games in 2012, 15 in 2013 and five last season because of injuries.
08/21/15 - NT Phil Taylor is still working his way back from knee surgery. He has been practicing but did not play against the Bills. He hopes to play against Tampa Bay.
11/15/14 - DE Phillip Taylor is out is of Sunday's game against the Houston Texans with a knee injury.
11/15/14 - DL Phil Taylor (knee) was placed on reserve/injured by the Browns Friday (Nov. 14). Taylor appeared in five games this year with four starts. He totaled 10 tackles and one pass defensed.
