 Draft Scout Andy Dalton News
12/14/14 - QB Andy Dalton does not have to play well for the Bengals to win, and that's important with critical games coming up against Denver and Pittsburgh to finish the season. Dalton completed 14 of 24 passes for 117 yards and threw one interception. His passer rating of 53.6 was better than the 2.0 he posted against the Browns last month, but backed by 244 yards rushing Dalton did not have to take chances.
12/08/14 - QB Andy Dalton missed one play after getting the wind knocked out of him and was later taken out when the score got out of hand, but he said he was fine.
12/07/14 - QB Andy Dalton nearly played a flawless game, going 21 of 29 passing for 302 yards and two touchdowns. He also had a 20-yard touchdown run, the longest by a Bengals QB since Ken Anderson had a 19-yard TD run in 1974. But Dalton couldn't get through Sunday's game without one critical error, a mishandled exchange between him and RB Jeremy Hill that resulted in a fumble. Pittsburgh recovered leading to the go-ahead TD.
12/01/14 - QB Andy Dalton, suffering from flu symptoms, vomited repeatedly before the game and threw three interceptions in the first half, including one on the first play of the game. But as bad as he was in the first half, Dalton showed great resiliency in the second half, going 12 of 16 for 114 yards and a touchdown. The TD to A.J. Green was the kind of spectacular throw that Dalton supporters point to as a reason for the huge contract he received in the offseason, as was the 30-yard, third-down strike to James Wright that extended the final drive and forced Tampa Bay to burn all three of its timeouts.
11/30/14 - QB Andy Dalton was as sick as he said he's ever felt while playing football in Sunday's 14-13 win over the Bucs. Still, he managed to complete 19 of 27 passes for 176 yards and a touchdown while rushing for another touchdown on a read option. Dalton threw three interceptions in the first half, all of them on poor decisions or errant throws, but said he didn't want to "make any excuses for the way things started out" despite the illness. Dalton said he began to feel better as the game went on. He didn't get much sleep Saturday night, vomited repeatedly before the game and received an IV on Sunday morning. He believed the illness was a "24-hour thing" that shouldn't affect him going forward.
