 Draft Scout Erick Faatagi News
08/05/08 - Monday’s news from Colorado football was not the kind it wanted to report on the eve of August camp. The program announced guard Erick Faatagi is academically ineligible once again, and since he would have been a fifth-year senior, his college football career is over. Faatagi would have challenged for a starting spot. His departure leaves the Buffs with just one guard — junior Devin Head — listed on the pre-season two-deep who’s not a redshirt or true freshman. It also means CU spent 21/2 years with Faatagi on scholarship, and he never played a down. That’s the bad news. The good news Monday was 105 players showed up ready to go. CU reported no other unexpected no-shows. And anticipation is soaring. - Patrick Ridgell, Longmont Times-Call
08/04/08 - One hundred and five players reported Monday for the third year of the Dan Hawkins Era at the University of Colorado, as the group includes 20 true freshmen, including three invited walk-ons. It was the standard first day, which included academic and compliance orientation, physicals, equipment sizing, photos and a team dinner, with the first position meetings in the evening. Practices begin Tuesday, with the same schedule daily: newcomers and select veterans with summer school in the afternoon will participate in morning sessions (9:45-11:45), while the remainder of the veterans will go in the afternoon (4:30-6:30). One player who did not join his teammates Monday was guard Erick Faatagi, as coaches received word that he has been determined to be academically ineligible for the fall semester. A fifth-year senior, his CU career is officially over, thus the coaches decided to bring another player into camp who originally was not going to report until the first day of school. - CU Buffs Football
05/17/08 - One of Colorado's top prospects to fill a spot along the offensive front, OG Erick Faatagi, missed about half of the spring practices and did not play in the spring game. Faatagi addressed academic issues.
09/08/07 - The academic status of OG Erick Faatagi remains an uncertainty. Another ruling is pending on DB Lamont Smith. The true freshman continues to wait on certification from the NCAA clearinghouse.
05/02/06 - TOP RECRUITS: G Erick Faatagi, Carson, Calif. (El Camino College) -- With three years to play two seasons, Faatagi could redshirt as a JC transfer, though Colorado hopes he fits in immediately at 6-3, 340. Allowed only one sack as a sophomore.
