Post-Draft Outlook:
BEST PICK: Illinois CB Vontae Davis is an absolute necessity in an AFC East Division that includes Tom Brady throwing to Randy Moss, Wes Welker and now Brandon Tate. Same goes for the Bills star-studded tandem of Terrell Owens and Lee Evans. Davis is physical, an absolute specimen, who is excellent in run support. The loss of veteran Andre' Goodman, along with Will Allen in the final year of his contract and not getting any younger, screamed for an upgrade at this position. A closer look at the Dolphins' picks: Round 1/25 -- Vontae Davis, CB, 5-11, 203, Illinois...The loss of Andre' Goodman along with the addition of Terrell Owens in a division that already has Randy Moss, Lee Evans and Wes Welker forced the Dolphins to address the cornerback position, especially with a physical one like Davis. - by The Sports Xchange

 Draft Scout *Vontae Davis News
01/14/10 - LCB Vontae Davis made steady progress in his rookie season but needs to get better with his neck swivel with the ball in the air. Davis led the team with four INTs and was a ferocious tackler (49) in run support.
01/04/10 - CB Vontae Davis, who finished with a team-leading four interceptions, injured his wrist on the opening drive. Although he returned briefly, he sat out the second half.
01/03/10 - CB Vontae Davis suffered a wrist injury Sunday. Davis led the team with four tackles in the first half despite the injury he suffered while tackling Willie Parker on a running play. But Davis watched the second half from the sidelines in a sweat suit. He still finished the season with a team-high four interceptions, becoming the first player at his position to lead the Dolphins in picks since Lloyd Mumphord in 1969.
12/30/09 - CB Vontae Davis, who nearly made a sensational leaping interception Sunday, has four picks this year. The last Dolphins rookie cornerback who had more interceptions was Lloyd Mumphord, who had five in 1969. Davis had six tackles and two passes defensed Sunday, but he whiffed on a tackle of Houston WR Jacoby Jones, who went for 35 yards to set up Houston's first touchdown.
12/22/09 - CB Vontae Davis had one of those roller-coaster games, getting beat on two of the three TD passes from Vince Young, but also coming up with his team-leading fourth interception and some clutch break-ups in the fourth quarter. The last Dolphins cornerback to lead the team in interceptions was Lloyd Mumphord with five in 1969.
