Draft Scout Jason Jones News
12/12/16 - DE Jason Jones was activated after a two-week suspension that stemmed from an offseason arrest and DUI charge.
12/07/16 - DE Jason Jones returned from his two-game suspension due to violating the NFL substance abuse policy. Jones has 2.5 sacks and has been a member of the defensive end rotation. Coach Adam Gase said the time off actually might have helped Jones recover from a nagging knee problem.
09/27/16 - DE Jason Jones (ankle) was upgraded to limited participation in Tuesday's practice. Jones (1.5 sacks) was injured last week in practice but played in the 30-24 overtime victory against Cleveland.
09/07/16 - DE Jason Jones will start opposite DE Mario Williams for the foreseeable future, with DE Cam Wake being used as a third-down pass rush specialist, according to defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. "In our first and second down package, which is obviously more run and mixed play-action pass, Jason Jones will be the starting end along with Mario Williams," Joseph said.
"Cam (Wake) will be used some on first- and second-down but mostly in pass rush situations."
05/16/16 - DE Jason Jones was signed Monday by the Miami Dolphins.
Jones played the past three seasons with the Detroit Lions where he started 34 games despite missing most of the 2013 season due to injury. In 2015, Jones started 15 contests and totaled 31 tackles (27 solo) and 4.5 sacks with seven tackles for loss.
Jones originally entered the NFL as a second-round selection by the Tennessee Titans in the 2008 NFL Draft. He played four seasons for Tennessee (2008-11) and one season for the Seattle Seahawks (2012) before joining the Lions.
