 Draft Scout Christian Ballard News
12/21/12 - DT Christian Ballard is seeing more time in the middle and is starting to produce. He had the best game of his career last Sunday, notching four tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss and three QB pressures. It was the first sack of his career.
09/10/12 - DT Christian Ballard is one of the more interesting special teams players the team has. He's over 300 pounds and is a key backup on a deep defensive line rotation. But he's also nimble enough to be an impact player on kick coverage units. He had one of the Vikings' six special teams tackles on Sunday.
03/01/12 - DL Christian Ballard, a rookie in 2011, has the athleticism, strength and body type to play the under tackle (three-technique), nose tackle or left end positions. He's a potential successor to Kevin Williams at the three-technique in a year or two. For now, however, the Vikings sound like they're not quite sure what to do in order to get the promising youngster on the field more. "We're excited about Christian's future," Frazier said. "He really showed some flashes of some things that we think are going to be really positive for our defense. "We think he can play the three-technique for us, but we also think he can swing outside and play some defensive end as well. He gives us some position flexibility that you don't always see with defensive tackles. But we're trying to determine if we want to settle on letting him play one position or let him continue to swing."
01/16/12 - DL Christian Ballard, a rookie, is big and strong enough to possibly start at nose tackle. He also can play under tackle and the left end position.
