Draft Scout Andre Branch News
03/09/17 - DE Andre Branch re-signed with the Dolphins on Wednesday, getting a three-year, $27 million contract.
His average of $9 million per season is more than the team was willing to pay Olivier Vernon in free agency last March. Vernon signed a whopper of a deal ($70 million) with the New York Giants in 2016.
Branch had only 5.5 sacks but started the final 11 games for the Dolphins. He has 19.5 career sacks and spent his first four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
01/09/17 - DE Andre Branch, who is eligible to become a free agent, said he'd like to return to the Dolphins. "Yeah, I love this place," he said. "They believed in me when not too many people did. I appreciate them for that. So we'll see how it goes. I don't know what the future holds but I had an amazing time this year."
01/04/17 - DE Andre Branch, who has 5.5 sacks, will be a key member of the pass rush this week. Expect DE Cam Wake (11.5 sacks) and DT Ndamukong Suh (5.0 sacks) to get lots of attention, which could leave Branch to feast.
10/26/16 - DE Andre Branch (3.0 sacks) remains one of the pleasant surprises on the team. Branch has been good against the run and pass, and his work along with the work of fellow DE Cam Wake allowed the defense to gain control of the line of scrimmage the last two weeks.
09/19/16 - DE Andre Branch, playing on the right side, had trouble "setting the edge," or turning running plays back to the inside against New England on Sunday. The Patriots kept going to the left side, which is where Branch was playing, in the fourth quarter. Miami will have to do something to address that or get used to a steady diet of runs to the offense's left side.
