 Draft Scout News
07/22/10 - TE Aaron Hernandez, a true pass catcher coming out of Florida, will likely line up wide in many of New England's various spread passing sets. He has the ability to make plays after the catch and potentially replaces the type of athleticism that Benjamin Watson (who signed with the Browns) and Daniel Graham offered the offense over the years.
06/24/10 - TE Aaron Hernandez was a standout in OTAs and minicamp thanks to his solid hands, impressive athleticism and ability to line up at a variety of spots in spread passing sets. Though just a fourth-round pick, Hernandez looks to be well on his way to making big rookie contributions to the Patriots pass-first offense.
06/10/10 - TE Aaron Hernandez (4/113/Florida) has a four-year deal worth as much as $1.308 million that includes a $200,000 signing bonus base salaries of $320,000, $405,000, $490,000 and $575,000, according to the National Football Post. It also includes roster bonuses $76,000 in 2010, $90,000 in 2011, $104,000 in 2012 and $118,000 in 2013. Hernandez admitted to failing at least one drug test while at Florida. Hernandez won the Mackey Award as the nation's top tight end. More of an athletic H-back than true tight end, he'll find some opportunities in the Patriots' spread formations.
06/08/10 - TE Aaron Hernandez (4/113/Florida) has agreed to a four-year deal, according to the Boston Herald. Terms were not disclosed. Hernandez won the Mackey Award as the nation's top tight end. More of an athletic H-back than true tight end, he'll find some opportunities in the Patriots' spread formations.
05/03/10 - TE Aaron Hernandez (4/113), Florida: Hernandez won the Mackey Award as the nation's top tight end. More of an athletic H-back than true tight end, he'll find some opportunities in the Patriots' spread formations.
