10/18/09 - A University of Connecticut football player has died following an on-campus stabbing, hours after the team’s victory over Louisville. Twenty-year-old Jasper Howard of Miami, a junior and starting cornerback, was stabbed during a fight early Sunday. His death was confirmed to The Associated Press by an administration official who requested anonymity because of the police investigation. A message with UConn police was not immediately returned. A message posted on the university’s Web site said the fight and stabbing happened near Hillside Road, which is near the center of the Storrs campus. The university said the perpetrator was still at large. Howard led the Big East in punt returns last season and recovered a fumble in UConn 38-25 victory Saturday over Louisville. - AP Sports
10/18/09 - UConn cornerback Jasper Howard was killed in an early-morning stabbing on the school campus Sunday, according to The Hartford Courant. Howard, 20, had a career-high 11 tackles in UConn’s 38-25 victory over Louisville on Saturday. Originally from Miami, the 5-foot-9, 174-pound junior began starting for the Huskies as a sophomore, though he returned punts in 2007 as a true freshman. According to WTNH-New Haven, a fire alarm went off in the Student Union shortly after midnight, at which point a fight broke out as people were being evacuated. 06/05/09 - STARS OF 2009: CB Jasper Howard spent last season known as "the cornerback alongside Darius Butler," despite the fact that he had a pretty fair season in his own right. Coming off a year where he had 13 passes broken up and was second in the Big East in punt-return average.
09/30/08 - Jasper Howard not only led the Huskies with nine tackles, he stripped Louisville receiver Doug Beaumont of the ball in the first quarter that gave the ball to UConn and derailed what had been an impressive game-opening drive by the Cardinals.
