 Draft Scout Kendall Hunter News
08/06/14 - RB Kendall Hunter (knee) was waived/injured by the 49ers Aug. 4 and was placed on reserve/injured the following day after clearing waivers.
07/27/14 - RB Kendall Hunter is out for the season with a torn ACL in his right knee. Hunter came into training camp as the team's No. 2 running back behind Frank Gore. Hunter's knee buckled while making a cut during a non-contact drill. He walked off the field on his own. An MRI later confirmed the injury. LaMichael James, rookie Carlos Hyde, Marcus Lattimore and Jewel Hampton are among those in line to replace Hunter as the top backup. Hunter rushed for 358 yards with three touchdowns last season. He has averaged 4.6 yards per carry in three seasons. He was entering the final year of his contract.
10/28/13 - Kendall Hunter led the 49ers with 84 yards on nine carries against Jacksonville.
09/02/13 - RB Kendall Hunter will be the primary beneficiary of Frank Gore's advanced age. He looked strong in the preseason, despite coming off a torn Achilles.
08/11/13 - RB Kendall Hunter was activated from the active/physically unable to perform list. Hunter was put on the list as a precaution early in training camp. He was recovering from an Achilles injury he sustained during Week 12 last season against the New Orleans Saints. Hunter averaged 5.2 yards per carry, running for 371 yards with two touchdowns last year. He was the backup to starter Frank Gore but is getting competition from 2012 second-round draft pick LaMichael James and hard-running Anthony Dixon. Harbaugh was asked if Hunter was still the No. 2 running back. "Well he probably is the No. 2 guy in terms of assignments," Harbaugh said. "But whenevere you are coming off an injury, you have to get back to 100 percent. We know what Kendall is about."
