Draft Scout Anthony Castonzo News
09/10/15 - LT Anthony Castonzo reached agreement on a contract extension Thursday (Sept. 10) with the Colts worth a reported $42 million over four years.
Castonzo will receive $35 million over the first three years of the deal, according to NFL Network.
"Left tackles like Anthony Castonzo are hard to come by," Colts general manager Ryan Grigson said. "He's a team-first guy that works as hard at his craft as anyone I have ever been around regardless of position. His desire to be great literally consumes him and he is a shining example of the sacrifice it truly takes every single day to be at the top of his game come Sunday.
"From ownership on down, we are all extremely happy that AC will be wearing the horseshoe for many years to come."
Castonzo, the Colts' first-round pick in 2011, has started 60 games in his first four seasons -- the fifth-longest streak among active NFL tackles. He was the only Colts offensive lineman to start every game last season and has served as a key protector for quarterback Andrew Luck.
Castonzo's deal follows the five-year, $65 million contract signed by wide receiver T.Y. Hilton last month -- satisfying the offseason goals of Colts owner Jim Irsay.
08/04/15 - LT Anthony Castonzo has started 56 straight games. That's a mark that Castonzo takes a lot of pride in.
"Yeah, I would like to think that I am always available. I take a lot of pride in that. I spend a lot of time in the offseason, not just trying to improve myself as a player, but doing stuff that is going to keep me healthy, to protect different joints and to protect things," he said. "It's all offseason which kind of allows me to be successful during the season."
04/30/14 - C Anthony Castonzo had the fifth-year option of his contract exercised by the Colts.
The option, worth $7.438 million for 2015, is part of the four-year, $8 million contract Castonzo signed after being selected with the 22nd overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
Castonzo, 25, has been a mainstay on the offensive line the past three seasons, starting 47 games including the playoffs. He missed four games as a rookie with an ankle injury. He only gave four up sacks while starting every game last season.
09/05/13 - OT Anthony Castonzo (knee) did not practice Wednesday but is slated to return for Thursday's workout. Castonzo is still scheduled to start against the Raiders.
09/03/13 - OT Anthony Castonzo (knee) saw limited work in Monday's practice. According to Colts coach Chuck Pagano, Castonzo is trending in the right direction and should be back in practice by Thursday. He is expected to start against the Raiders.
