12/21/14 - QB Jimmy Clausen's first start in four years appeared to be good enough to earn him another shot next week when the Bears finish at Minnesota, but coach Marc Trestman, who seemed generally pleased with the performance, did not make it official. He said he would announce his starter early in the week, however. Last week, it was not before Wednesday that a decision leaked out.
06/12/14 - QB Jimmy Clausen's first look at the Bears offense gave him some confidence.
"It's a West Coast system; I think that fits me well," he said.
Clausen had a torn labrum last year but deems himself 100 percent healthy now.
"It feels great," he said. "My body is probably the best it's felt since going into my junior year of college before I hurt my toe."
06/05/14 - The Chicago Bears signed quarterback Jimmy Clausen to a one-year contract and waived linebacker Lawrence Wilson.
Clausen spent last season on injured reserve with the Carolina Panthers after suffering a shoulder injury in the preseason finale. He joins a mix of players in Chicago competing for the backup role to Jay Cutler vacated by Josh McCown, who is slated to be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' starter this season.
Jordan Palmer entered the offseason program as the No. 2 quarterback, while the team also spent a sixth-round pick on former San Jose State star David Fales and has Jerrod Johnson on the roster.
"Excited to start a new chapter with the @ChicagoBears !" Clausen tweeted Thursday. "Blessed to have this opportunity and looking forward to getting started!!"
