 Draft Scout Kirk Cousins News
10/12/14 - QB Kirk Cousins was intercepted three times in the fourth quarter. "The first one was a poor throw; high over the middle," said Cousins, who finished 24-for-38 for 354 yards and two touchdowns. "I got off rhythm and just felt rushed and it threw me off where I wanted to be. That one was on me. The second one, it just got congested and it was just a tough deal the way it worked out. ... The third one, I was just trying to get the ball downfield and did not see the defender."
09/22/14 - QB Kirk Cousins started off on fire for the second straight week, connecting on 16 of his first 18 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns. He finished 30 of 48 for 427 yards, the fourth-most in franchise history, three touchdowns and one interception. He wasn't sacked, which is a credit to the offensive line and his own quick release.
09/14/14 - QB Kirk Cousins threw a touchdown pass on Cousins on the third play he took after replacing Robert Griffin to push Washington ahead 7-0, and steered the offense effectively in a 41-10 win. Cousins, who sparkled in relief of Griffin when they were rookies in 2012 but struggled in his place for the final three games of 2013, completed his first 12 passes and produced touchdowns on each of his first three series despite the absence of Jackson and tight end Jordan Reed (hamstring). Running back Alfred Morris (22 carries, 85 yards) scored a pair of 1-yard touchdowns to end the next two drives, raising the margin to 21-0.
12/30/13 - The shine is a little off the Kirk Cousins boomlet after the second-year quarterback had a rough day in the rain at MetLife Stadium in the season-ending loss to the Giants. Cousins completed just 19 of 49 passes for 169 yards while throwing two interceptions and losing a fumble on one of the three sacks he took. Cousins and the offense produced just two field goals after drives that totaled only 28 yards after the defense forced turnovers. Washington was 5-for-25 on third downs, made just 12 first downs and generated only 251 yards. Not only did Cousins go 0-3 after coach Mike Shanahan sat starter Robert Griffin III to protect the franchise quarterback's health going into the offseason, but the former Michigan State standout's numbers went backwards each week. Cousins passed for 381 yards and three touchdowns with a 94.8 rating at Atlanta, 197 yards and one touchdown with a 71.2 rating against Dallas and a 31.8 rating on Sunday. All told, Cousins was 69-for-130 (53.1 percent) in his three starts for 747 yards (5.8 per attempt), four touchdowns and five interceptions while also losing two fumbles. That's a 64.9 rating.
12/17/13 - QB Kirk Cousins is the first Redskin to pass for 300 yards in each of his first two starts.
