Draft Scout Justin Francis News
01/22/13 - DL Justin Francis, an undrafted rookie free agent who made the team out of training camp, made his first career start Sunday.
01/09/13 - DL Justin Francis was one of the other noteworthy players present for Wednesday's practice. He won't get too many snaps, but he's an option in sub-defense packages and could be an asset at some point in this postseason run.
12/31/12 - DE Justin Francis finished with three sacks Sunday, which were the first three sacks of his NFL career. The last Patriot to finish with three sacks in a game was Andre Carter in 2011.
12/19/12 - DE Justin Francis has enjoyed an increase in playing time, playing on 74 snaps in the last four games after playing on only 38 in the previous 10 games. "He's a competitive player," coach Bill Belichick said. "He works hard. He's got some good ability. Like any young player, he's learning through sometimes trial and error, and sometimes experience, and sometimes the hard way."
11/30/12 - DE Justin Francis, a rookie free agent out of Rutgers, has seen limited rotational action this season. But his reps may be on the rise as New England works through an injury to rookie starter Chandler Jones, as well as the four-game suspension levied this week on veteran reserve Jermaine Cunningham. And the personable Francis says he's ready for whatever is thrown his way.
"I like getting after the quarterback," Francis said with a huge smile. "Wherever coach wants me to play, I'll play. If it's quarterback, it's quarterback. If it's cornerback, it's cornerback, but I don't think I'll be playing any of those positions. So whatever coach wants me to play and however I can get to the quarterback, that's all that matter to me."
