Draft Scout Chandler Harnish News
08/26/14 - QB Chandler Harnish is the Colts' third quarterback, but the team is expected to keep only two on the roster. Harnish was cut at the end of training camp last year and was later added to the team's practice squad. That could be the case again in the coming days. Pagano says that Harnish has progressed every year and has been playing well when given the opportunity.
10/16/12 - QB Chandler Harnish was waived by the Colts. Harnish was the final pick of the draft in April, known as "Mr. Irrelevant," and has been inactive for the Colts' first five games this season.
09/03/12 - QB Chandler Harnish made the Colts' 53-man regular-season roster after a pretty good performance in the team's final preseason game. Harnish led Indianapolis to a come-from-behind win over the Bengals 20-16. According to coach Chuck Pagano, though, there also was a body of work from training camp and the entire preseason that was considered also. "He put enough out there, his body of work, his resume that he put out there in the preseason. Obviously we felt good enough to draft Chandler based on what we saw coming out of college. I think that what he's done in the preseason, we didn't want to risk (losing him to another team)," coach Chuck Pagano said.
"He's an up-and-coming guy and he's got all the Colts traits that you're looking for and did a tremendous job for us. I think you're spot on in that we didn't want to risk losing Chandler."
05/24/12 - QB Chandler Harnish, the Colts' seventh-round draft pick, missed the first week of OTA workouts after spraining his right knee while working out. The initial prognosis indicated that Harnish would be sidelined for several weeks. But he returned for the second week of OTA practice sessions.
"He's shown his toughness, his perseverance and his resiliency. He's a really tough kid. We thought it was going to be a little bit longer, obviously," coach Chuck Pagano said. "We didn't anticipate it. It's great having him out there, he's doing a tremendous job."
05/10/12 - QB Chandler Harnish, a Bluffton, Ind., native, on being drafted by the Colts in the seventh round: "It was a very special feeling to be drafted by your hometown favorite team. The people are still very excited (in Bluffton). It was a very special feeling to be drafted by your hometown, favorite team. The people are still very excited up there.
"I've always loved the Colts and I looked up to guys like Jim Harbaugh and Peyton Manning. To be a part of the team and to put on the helmet is something very special. (I want to) just to pick up as much (of the) offense as I can, and to just show these guys what kind of leader I am on and off the field. Just taking as much as you can home with you from the coaches, from different players and from Andrew (Luck). I think at the end of those three days it will be very worthwhile."
