Draft Scout Ronald Leary News
08/07/17 - OG Ron Leary saw work on half of the first-team snaps Monday as he gradually gets back up to speed after suffering a groin injury early in training camp. Connor McGovern and Billy Turner have worked in his place.
08/01/17 - G Ron Leary did not practice Monday because of a groin injury. The Broncos plan to be cautious with their big free-agent signee, who has been working at right guard throughout training camp. Billy Turner is working in his spot.
03/10/17 - G Ronald Leary agreed to terms on a four-year, $35 million deal with the Broncos on Thursday.
Leary, 27, was a starter for the Cowboys last season only after La'el Collins went down with a foot injury. The Cowboys landed Collins in 2015, and he broke into the starting lineup as a rookie. Leary, who started at least six games in each of the past four seasons, will not be looking over his shoulder in Denver.
His deal reportedly includes $20 million guaranteed, more than the Jets gave Brian Winters ($15M guaranteed) in January.
01/16/17 - G Ron Leary was disappointed with the sudden end to the season, but he can't deny it proved to a fruitful and potentially profitable year for him. After spending much of the offseason clamoring for a trade because he was mired on the bench behind La'el Collins in what was the final season of his contract, Leary took advantage of a Collins injury to start 12 games and put himself in position to cash in big in free agency. Leary started at left guard in 2013 and 2014 before before replaced by Collins last season. Collins started the first four games in 2016 before suffering a toe injury, opening the door for Leary to show the Cowboys as well as teams across the league that he can still play.
11/10/16 - G Ron Leary didn't practice Wednesday because of a head injury he suffered against the Browns. The Cowboys still expect him to play Sunday against the Steelers. If he can't go, Joe Looney will start at left guard.
