Post-Draft Outlook:
A closer look at the Vikings' picks: Round 2/54 -- Phil Loadholt, OT, 6-8, 343, Oklahoma...The Vikings had targeted Loadholt but weren't sure he would be around when they selected in the second round. When he was they grabbed him. A left tackle in college, Loadholt will move to the right side and compete for the starting job. There is an excellent chance he will beat out Ryan Cook and Artis Hicks and start as a rookie. Loadholt gave up only two sacks and one quarterback pressure on 438 pass plays in 2008. - by The Sports Xchange

 Draft Scout Phil Loadholt News
07/21/16 - OT Phil Loadholt retired from the NFL at age 30. "This chapter in my life is closing and I look forward to seeing what the next one brings," Loadholt said. Loadholt spent seven seasons with the Vikings but ended 2015 and 2014 on injured reserve. He had a setback in his return from the Achilles injury that wiped out his entire 2015 season.
05/25/16 - RT Phil Loadholt appears to have the early edge at right tackle, although Andre Smith will be given ample opportunities to overtake the starting job. Loadholt missed all of last season because of a torn Achilles' tendon and five games in 2014 because of a torn pectoral muscle. He is working with the first unit during OTAs this week.
08/20/15 - T Phil Loadholt had his season-ending surgery on his left Achilles' tendon on Tuesday. He's been placed on injured reserve.
08/18/15 - T Phil Loadholt, as expected, was placed on reserve/injured by the Vikings Tuesday (Aug. 18). Loadholt fell to the ground Sunday on the second play of the Vikings' game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was carted off with a torn Achilles tendon.
08/15/15 - RT Phil Loadhold, who finished last season on injured reserve with a torn pectoral muscle in November, ruptured his Achilles tendon in Saturday's exhibition game against Tampa Bay and is expected to be out of the season.
