09/18/14 - RB Chris Rainey was released from the practice squad by the Cardinals Thursday (Sept. 18).
09/10/14 - RB Chris Rainey was signed to the practice squad by the Cardinals Tuesday (Sept. 9).
07/28/14 - RB Chris Rainey was waived by the Colts Monday (July 28). Head coach Chuck Pagano confirmed following a morning practice that Rainey was released for violating a team rule.
"We let go of Chris Rainey. As you guys might have seen, he wasn't at practice," Pagano said. "We let Chris go, a violation of team rules. It's an in-house deal, that's all I'll say about that. And with that, I'll answer any questions that you have."
Rainey was signed by the Colts as a free agent on November 20, 2013. In two games with Indianapolis last season, he had six kickoff returns for 131 yards and four punt returns for 29 yards.
For his career, Rainey has returned 45 kickoffs for 1,166 yards and seven punts for 29 yards. He also has 26 carries for 102 yards, all in 2012 when he played with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
A January 2013 arrest led to his release from the Steelers. He was arrested in Gainesville, Fla., and charged with one count of simple battery after an altercation with a woman over a cell phone.
12/09/13 - RB Chris Rainey (fibula) was placed on injured reserve Monday. Rainey suffered a fractured fibula in the third quarter of the Cincinnati game and did not return. He was on crutches after the game. Rainey was signed to the Indianapolis roster two weeks ago. He will be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
11/25/13 - --RB Chris Rainey was added to the Colts active roster early last week but was not a game-day active player on Sunday at Arizona. Rainey, who began his NFL career last year at Pittsburgh, might see playing time Sunday against Tennessee.
