Draft Scout Derrick Shelby News
09/21/15 - DE Derrick Shelby (eye) played the second half in place of fellow end Cam Wake (hamstring), who missed the second half. And despite Shelby not practicing all last week, he did well and posted two tackles.
09/16/15 - DE Derrick Shelby (eye) didn't practice Wednesday. Shelby, who was poked in the eye in last week's game at Washington, wore dark sunglasses at practice. He wore them after the game because he didn't want anyone seeing his black eye. There's no word on whether he has developed a sensitivity to light.
09/14/15 - DE Derrick Shelby had a black eye and it was almost swollen shut after the game. Shelby said he was poked in the eye by a Washington offensive lineman.
03/27/15 - DT Derrick Shelby, tendered as a restricted free agent by the Dolphins at $2.356 million with a second-round pick as compensation, signed his tender Thursday (March 26).
03/04/15 - DT Derrick Shelby is a key member of the defensive line and will likely be back. Shelby plays both tackle and end, and shows promise as a pass rusher. If he continues to develop, the Dolphins will keep a nice rotation at end among Cam Wake, Olivier Vernon and Shelby. And if Dion Jordan develops, the defensive end rotation will become a team strength. Expect Shelby to be back.
