Draft Scout News
11/03/14 - OT Derek Sherrod, the team's first-round draft pick in 2011, was released.
After playing in a combined 13 games (including playoffs) his first three seasons, Sherrod appeared in Green Bay's first eight games this season. His only start with the Packers came in the Week 2 win over the New York Jets as the replacement for injured right tackle Bryan Bulaga.
Sherrod missed the entire 2012 season in the wake of suffering a broken leg in a game at the Kansas City Chiefs in December 2011.
09/14/14 - RT Derek Sherrod, the team's first-round pick in 2011, made his first NFL start in place of injured Bryan Bulaga (knee). Sherrod sustained a broken leg late during his rookie season, an injury that sidelined him for all of 2012 and most of 2013. He had a tough time with the Jets' Quinton Coples, including allowing a first-quarter sack.
09/05/14 - RT Derek Sherrod struggled after replacing RF Bryan Bulaga in Thursday's second quarter. He gave up a critical sack that resulted in a fumble and a safety shortly after halftime. "I'm just shaking it off and preparing for the next game," he said. "I can't do anything about (Thursday's performance) right now; I just have to go and get prepared for the next game."
11/30/13 - OT Derek Sherrod made his first appearance on the offensive line in nearly two years, replacing right tackle Don Barclay late in 40-10 loss at Detroit on Thursday. Sherrod, the team's first-round draft pick in 2011, missed the entire 2012 season and most of this season after recovering from a broken leg that later caused complications.
11/06/13 - --OT Derek Sherrod still will need time to round into playing form despite being activated from the PUP list and added to the 53-man roster Tuesday. Sherrod, the team's first-round draft pick in 2011, practiced the last three weeks. He hasn't played a down of football since he sustained a broken fibula and tibia in his right leg in the Packers' loss at the Kansas City Chiefs on Dec. 18, 2011. "I think it's realistic to try to get him ready at both tackle positions and get him reps on both sides," head coach Mike McCarthy said. "He's been able to do some extra work after practice. (But) he needs padded work, frankly ... (and) we won't be in pads this week coming off (the) Monday night (game). We'll just continue to work on his footwork, assignments and things like that."
