Draft Scout *Torrey Smith News
09/29/15 - WR Torrey Smith did not record a pass reception in Sunday's loss at Arizona. Smith was one of the first 49ers pulled from the blowout as he'd been limited some in practice last week with a knee injury.
09/27/15 - WR Torrey Smith was blanketed by Pro Bowl CB Patrick Peterson for most of Sunday's game and only two passes were thrown his way. He finished the game without a reception. "Games like this do happen," Smith said of Sunday's loss. "It's a good thing it's early. We have some time to recover from it."
09/21/15 - WR Torrey Smith recorded the longest touchdown reception of his career Sunday when he connected with QB Colin Kaepernick on a 75-yarder in the fourth quarter of the loss at Pittsburgh. Smith had 120 yards in receptions on six catches, going over 100 yards for the seventh time in his career.
Smith suffered a minor leg contusion in the game and might be limited some in practice this week, but it is unlikely to affect his status for Sunday's game at Arizona.
09/01/15 - WR Torrey Smith will not practice this week because of a knee contusion. He will not play in the 49ers' final preseason game Thursday against San Diego.
03/11/15 - WR Torrey Smith and the San Francisco 49ers agreed to a five-year deal on Tuesday (March 10).
The former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver was heavily recruited by Anquan Boldin, who last played with Smith in Super Bowl XLVII, when the Ravens beat the 49ers in New Orleans.
Smith penned a heartfelt goodbye to Ravens fans on Sunday and spent time with Boldin before agreeing to a deal that will pay him $40 million over five seasons, with $22 million guaranteed. The Ravens offered $35 million over five years, according to CBS Sports.
As a vertical threat with the Ravens, Smith had 11 touchdowns and averaged 15.7 yards per reception (49 catches) last season. He averaged 17.4 yards per catch in 2013, when he led the Ravens with 65 receptions for 1,128 yards.
