Draft Scout Ryan Tannehill News
09/06/17 - QB Ryan Tannehill has been in the locker room twice this week and seems in good spirits after having season-ending surgery on his left knee. Tannehill casually chatted with reporters Monday about his alma mater, Texas A&M, and its disappointing 45-44 loss to UCLA.
08/19/17 - QB Ryan Tannehill (knee) still hasn't had his surgery. If Tannehill needs major ACL repair, as is suspected, his recovery could take between eight and 12 months.
08/12/17 - QB Ryan Tannehill was placed on the injured reserve list Saturday, and he'll have season-ending ACL surgery soon. "It's unfortunate for him," head coach Adam Gase said. "He worked so hard to be available for us and those guys did a lot of work during the offseason to get to this point. I think he's handling it good." He has started 77 games for the Dolphins over five NFL seasons.
08/07/17 - QB Ryan Tannehill, sidelined with a left knee injury, has had a hard time accepting his injury. Tannehill and the Dolphins still haven't decided on a course of treatment among surgery, rehabilitation or something else. But Tannehill is still a bit dejected, according to head coach Adam Gase.
"It has been a tough few days for him," Gase said of Tannehill. "We were talking about the other day all these stages you go through and we both keep saying we're going out of order from denial to angry and then all of a sudden we're depressed and go back to denial. It's tough. We worked really hard to get to this point and to get it taken away like that, I think it was very frustrated for him. We put this thing together all spring thinking this is the crew we were going to roll with. One cut and all of a sudden all that's gone."
08/04/17 - QB Ryan Tannehill could be facing knee surgery, Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase confirmed Friday. Tannehill sustained a serious injury to his left knee during Thursday's practice. Whether Tannehill opts for surgery or not, he will miss "significant" time with his left knee injury, league sources told the Miami Herald. Several doctors will be consulted, including renowned orthopedic surgeon James Andrews. An MRI exam revealed Tannehill did not suffer ligament damage when he went down and hyperextended the knee during practice. His left knee buckled while he scrambled without contact. Reconstructive surgery to a knee ligament generally sidelines an athlete for nine to 12 months. Tannehill suffered a sprained ACL and MCL in the same knee last December but did not have surgery.
