Draft Scout *Shane Vereen News
11/27/13 - RB Shane Vereen (wrist) was a full participant in practice.
11/22/13 - RB Shane Vereen participated on Friday and is listed as probable to play against Denver on Sunday.
11/20/13 - RB Shane Vereen has played in only two games this season. In the opener, he led New England on the ground with his first career 100-yard game. Last Monday night he returned from injured reserve and led the Patriots with a career-high eight catches.
With the potential for the third-down back to be a key part of the Patriots offensive attack, QB Tom Brady clearly likes what he sees from Vereen when he's on the field. "Since the middle of last year, he has really emerged and developed into that role," Brady said. "He got to learn from Kevin (Faulk) for a little bit and you know Danny Woodhead was here to help last year, but he has really taken it on this year. I think the best part is he really understands the importance and magnitude of that role and takes a lot of pride in it.
11/19/13 - RB Shane Vereen (wrist) returned from injured reserve to play his second game of the season against the Panthers. The New England passing back got right into the action, leading the Patriots with a career-high eight catches for 65 yards, although he did have a key drop on team's final drive and unsuccessful comeback attempt.
"It was good to have him back," coach Bill Belichick said of Vereen's return. "He missed two months of football. I think he'll be better as we go along. He's worked hard, definitely made some plays that helped us in the game. I think he'll improve and get better, like any player will with more reps and more opportunities to practice and play.
"It's definitely good to have him back out there. There are plenty of things for him to work on but he's a diligent, hard working kid that always gives you a solid effort. I'm sure he'll continue to do that."
11/13/13 - RB Shane Vereen (wrist) is expected to return from injured reserve on Monday night in Carolina. As such New England will need to make a subsequent roster move to make room for the third-down back on the 53-man roster.
