Draft Scout *Muhammad Wilkerson News
01/01/18 - DE Muhammad Wilkerson was inactive for the season finale.
12/24/17 - DE Muhammad Wilkerson was ruled inactive for Sunday's home game against the Los Angeles Chargers, one week after being benched for showing up late to a New York Jets' team meeting. Wilkerson may have played his last game in a Jets uniform. The Jets likely will release the former Pro Bowl selection before March due to lack of performance and because his $16.75 million salary becomes fully guaranteed if he is on the roster for the third day of the 2018 league year. The Jets' first-round pick in 2011, Wilkerson posted a career-high 12 sacks in 2015. The Jets used the franchise tag on Wilkerson for 2016, but the sides worked out a long-term agreement minutes before the July 15 deadline last season.
12/21/17 - DE Muhammad Wilkerson practiced for the second straight day, but will be a game-time decision on Sunday, head coach Todd Bowles said after Thursday's practice.
12/18/17 - DE Muhammad Wilkerson didn't make the trip to New Orleans after he was reportedly late to a team meeting for the second time in two weeks.
12/15/17 - DE Muhammad Wilkerson is being benched by the New York Jets because he showed up late again to a team meeting. Wilkerson will be a healthy scratch for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints, coach Todd Bowles announced Friday. Bowles said Wilkerson will not make the trip to New Orleans, calling it a "coach's decision." According to multiple reports, the 28-year-old Wilkerson arrived late to Friday morning's team meeting and tardiness continues to be an issue for the former Pro Bowler. Wilkerson, who signed a five-year, $86 million contract in July 2016, has only eight sacks in 28 games since the new deal. The Jets likely will release him before March due to lack of performance and because his $16.75 million salary becomes fully guaranteed if he is on the roster for the third day of the 2018 league year.
