10/19/09 - GREAT WEST OCT 19 OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: DE Ryan Shotwell - Cal Poly, equalled his career-high with three sacks, forced a fumble, broke up a pass and hurried the quarterback twice in Cal Poly's 24-23 Great West Conference win over Southern Utah. Shotwell, who also had three sacks against South Dakota State a year ago, notched five total tackles Saturday, all solo stops. Shotwell now has 17.5 career sacks, No. 9 on Cal Poly's all-time career list and moving ahead of his older brother, Kyle (17.0). 10/20/08 - GREAT WEST OCT 20 DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ryan Shotwell recorded three of Cal Poly’s 10 sacks as the Mustangs defeated South Dakota State 42-28. The sack total is the most for Cal Poly since moving to Division I 14 years ago. Shotwell notched a total of six tackles and was part of a Mustang defense that held South Dakota State to just 38 rushing yards. The Jackrabbits recovered an onside kick with 4:25 left in the game, but three consecutive Mustang sacks, one by Shotwell, clinched the win.
