Draft Scout Kam Chancellor News
09/01/15 - SS Kam Chancellor remains holding out, with his absence reaching 33 days as of Tuesday. Head coach Pete Carroll said there was nothing new on the Chancellor front Tuesday, saying simply "uh, no''when asked if anything had changed.
08/27/15 - SS Kam Chancellor's holdout reached day 28 on Thursday with no real end in sight. Seattle coach Pete Carroll said Thursday that there was nothing new on the situation with Chancellor, who wants a new contract or at least some alterations to his current deal, which runs through the 2017 season and is due to pay him $4.55 million this year.
"Everything's as it's been, really as it's been," Carroll said. "At this point, it's important for us, we have to continue to look…the opener's coming, and we have to get our guys ready to play. So that's what we're doing." Expect Dion Bailey to start at strong safety in Chancellor's place Saturday at San Diego.
08/24/15 - SS Kam Chancellor remains a holdout, with his absence reaching 25 days on Monday, and has him in a spot where he could be fined as much as $1 million. "Nothing has changed," coach Pete Carroll said Monday when asked about Chancellor and the team is beginning to grapple with the realistic possibility that he could miss the season.
Carroll continues to talk up the play of second-year strong safety Dion Bailey, who probably would be the starter if the season began today. DeShawn Shead has also competed there but has also been used at cornerback and could be a better fit for a utility defensive back role again.
08/19/15 - SS Kam Chancellor remains holding out and the team could fine him up to $850,000 as of Wednesday. Dion Bailey is expected to start in his place at Kansas City.
08/03/15 - S Kam Chancellor continues to hold out and it's unclear when he will return. Head coach Pete Carroll said the fact that quarterback Russell Wilson and linebacker Bobby Wagner have now signed extensions means the Seahawks can turn to other matters. But the Seahawks also are known to be reluctant to do much with Chancellor since he has three years left on his deal and are worried about setting a precedent. Most likely is that the team guarantees some money in his deal that currently is not, similar to what they did last year for Marshawn Lynch when he held out the first week.
