 Draft Scout Brandon Weeden News
04/03/16 - QB Brandon Weeden, who became an unrestricted free agent March 9, re-signed with the Browns Friday (April 1). Weeden played in two games, making one start, for the Texans last season after being claimed off waivers on Nov. 19, 2015. He led Houston to its first-ever win in Indianapolis (12/20) after entering the game in the second quarter for QB T.J. Yates, who exited due to injury. Weeden finished the contest completing 11-of-18 passes for 105 yards, one touchdown and a 95.8 passer rating. The following week at Tennessee (12/27), he started and led the team to a 34-6 victory over the Titans, connecting on 15-of-24 pass attempts for 200 yards, two touchdowns and a career-high 116.7 passer rating. Weeden also added his first career rushing touchdown and became the first player in franchise history to record two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown in a game.
01/11/16 - QB Brandon Weeden, undefeated in two games under center for the Texans, enjoyed his experience enough that he would like to return next season. Weeden completed 26 of 52 passes for 305 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions for a 107.7 passer rating for the Texans, rallying them to a comeback victory over the Indianapolis Colts and winning a start over the Tennessee Titans. "Absolutely," Weeden said when asked if he would like to be back in Houston. "It's crazy. It's been four years, and I'm already a free agent. I'll weigh my options and go from there.
12/27/15 - QB Brandon Weeden won his first game as a starter since December of 2012, when he was a rookie with Cleveland. Weeden was efficient, hitting 15 of 24 passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns while running for his first career touchdown.
11/19/15 - QB Brandon Weeden was released by the Cowboys and claimed off waivers by the Houston Texans. Weeden was released because of the return of Romo and because he was surpassed as the backup by Matt Cassel. Weeden, 32, was with the Cowboys since 2014, serving as Romo's primary backup. But he went 0-4 in games he started when Romo was injured. Weeden lost his lone start against Arizona last season, and then went 0-3 in his stretch filling in for Romo this season. Weeden has not won a game in which he started since his rookie season in 2012, with the Cleveland Browns. LB Sean Lee returned to practice for the first time since leaving the Week 9 game against Philadelphia with his second concussion in five weeks.
11/18/15 - QB Brandon Weeden was placed on waivers by the Cowboys Tuesday (Nov. 17).
