Draft Scout Brooks Reed News
09/01/14 - SOLB Brooks Reed starts for the fourth season, a contract year. He's solid against the run, drops when he's called on, but he needs to improve as a pass rusher.
07/27/14 - LB Brooks Reed worked inside during the OTAs after starting outside during his first three seasons. Reed has always played over the tight end, but new defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel wanted to see how smooth of a transition he could make and possibly start next to Brian Cushing.
If Reed can play inside, Whitney Mercilus can move from the weak to the strong side to make room for rookie Jadeveon Clowney. Mercilus, another former first-round pick, had seven sacks last year in his first full season as a starter and 6 ½ as a rookie coming off the bench.
During the first day of camp, Reed was back outside. The coaches want him to be able to play both positions.
12/17/13 - OLB Brooks Reed recorded the Texans' only sack against the Colts, giving him three for the season.
12/06/13 - OLB Brooks Reed, who had six sacks as a rookie in 2011, recorded his second sack of 2013 against Jacksonville.
11/27/13 - OLB Brooks Reed, who plays the strong side, has only one sack, but the coaches say he's playing the run well and putting enough pressure on the quarterback to be disruptive.
