 Draft Scout Brooks Reed News
05/25/15 - OLB Brooks Reed suffered a groin injury during voluntary minicamp and could miss the start of organized team activities. According to ESPN.com, the injury was termed "minor." The Falcons begin their first OTA practice Tuesday. Reed, formerly with the Houston Texans, signed a five-year, $22 million contract with the Falcons as a free agent in March.
03/11/15 - LB Brooks Reed agreed to terms with the Falcons Tuesday (March 10) om a five-year contract. Reed was originally selected by the Houston Texans in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Arizona. He started 52 of 59 career games, recording 211 tackles (122 solo), 14.5 sacks, one interception, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in four seasons in Houston. Last season, Reed started 13 of 16 games and finished with 41 tackles, three sacks, 10 quarterback hits, five tackles for loss, four passes defensed, and one interception.
03/04/15 - LB Brooks Reed was a solid addition to the Texans as a second-round pick in 2011. But Reed has rarely dominated and never took advantage of having All-Pro J.J. Watt on the line. He recorded just 41 tackles and three sacks in 16 games (13 starts) last season. He's a weak starter on a good team or a linebacker with upside on a poor one.
10/15/14 - OLB Brooks Reed sustained a groin injury against Indianapolis. If he can't play against the Steelers, he would be replaced by John Simon, who was signed off Baltimore's practice squad last week and recorded a sack against the Colts.
09/15/14 - OLB Brooks Reed, who's off to the best start of his four-year career, intercepted his first pass. In the fourth quarter at Oakland, J.J. Watt hit rookie quarterback Derek Carr as he threw, and the ball fluttered into Reed's hands. To get ready for the season, Reed spent two months in Wisconsin working out with Watt. This is the last season of Reed's career.
