 Draft Scout Bruce Johnson News
10/25/09 - CB Bruce Johnson was given the start at the nickel back ahead of a healthy Kevin Dockery. Johnson, who earlier in the year filled in for Dockery when the latter had a hamstring strain, held his own against the Cardinals' speedy receivers.
09/22/09 - CB Bruce Johnson was one of five nominees for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week honors for his superb play against the Cowboys. Johnson intercepted Tony Romo and returned the pick 34 yards for a touchdown to give the Giants a 10-7 lead in the first quarter.
09/21/09 - DB Bruce Johnson was an undrafted free agent just hoping for the slightest chance to make an NFL club. Fast forward to Sunday night in Dallas and Johnson made the defensive play of the game for Big Blue. The rookie free agent out of Miami picked off an errant Tony Romo pass and returned it 34 yards for a touchdown from the unlikeliest of New York defenders. Johnson's heroics gave the Giants a 10-7 first-quarter lead. "It happened so fast," Johnson said. "My college coach always told me that when I get the ball in my hands to run like I had stolen something. That play means a lot to me." Tom Coughlin has been a huge fan of Johnson's since he joined the Giants. "How about Bruce Johnson's interception, running into the end zone for the touchdown?" he asked. "That's a continuation of outstanding play by a young man that understands his assignments, knows exactly what he's being asked to do and goes out and does it."
09/10/09 - CB Bruce Johnson might end up being the corner on the spot for the Giants this week. The rookie free agent from Miami (Fla.) not only shocked the world by making the Giants 53-man roster but it looks as if he'll be receiving some important snaps against Washington with Aaron Ross and Kevin Dockery missing Thursday's practice.
09/01/09 - CB Bruce Johnson is a long shot. If he makes it at all it will be as a special teamer;
