Draft Scout Case Keenum News
11/14/16 - QB Case Keenum was 17-of-30 for 165 yards and no turnovers. "I'm never going to take winning for granted in this league. I know how hard it is."
11/07/16 - QB Case Keenum was 27 of 46 for 296 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Keenum was frequently booed throughout the game by the hometown fans, who were apparently craving the pro debut of rookie quarterback and top draft pick Jared Goff.
Keenum heard it all.
"It's frustrating; I'm frustrated," Keenum said of the fans' reaction. "I'm glad they care. I do, I'm really glad the fans care. I care, too. I put a lot in this. I put a lot of hours, a lot of work into it. Something I've work for my whole life. I'm glad they care because I care as well."
Rams coach Jeff Fisher defended Keenum.
"I would submit that Case wasn't the reason we lost this game today. We just didn't make plays," Fisher said.
However, Fisher acknowledged that Keenum and the offense has to be more productive.
Keenum gave the Rams a chance, however, throwing a 10-yard touchdown pass to Kenny Britt with 34 seconds left in the contest and cutting the Panthers' margin to three points. But Los Angeles failed to recover a squib kick with 31 seconds remaining, allowing the Panthers (3-5) to prevail.
11/07/16 - QB Case Keenum has thrown five interceptions over the last two games and 11 through eight games. Under his direction, the Rams have managed to reach the end zone just two times the last two games.
"Not good enough. It wasn't good enough," Keenum said. "Again, a turnover cost us and not good enough on third down. There were a couple plays there that I want back, but it wasn't good enough. I have to go look at it on film, but it was not good enough."
Keenum read little into a late-game touchdown against the Panthers prevent defense.
"Yeah, it was too little, too late. I think we got going with some on-the-ball stuff," he said. "We were able to complete some passes and get some guys open down field -- even short passes to get some guys running and kind of getting on the ball, two-minute-type style offense, and got a score, but it wasn't enough."
In the process, Keenum heard the Coliseum crowd voice their displeasure with boos. Keenum says he understands.
"It's frustrating. I'm frustrated. I'm glad they care; I do. I'm really glad the fans care. I care, too," he said. "I put a lot into this. I put a lot of hours, I put a lot of work into it and it's something I've worked for my whole life. I'm glad they care because I care as well and when we aren't scoring points and we aren't moving the football, it's frustrating. I can tell they're frustrated, we're frustrated, too, but we are doing our best and we are going to go back and look at it and see what we need to fix and come in Monday ready to go."
10/31/16 - QB Case Keenum was obviously disappointed with the way the Los Angeles Rams fell off after starting the season 3-1. After throwing four interceptions against the New York Giants to contribute to the Rams' third straight loss, it's time to take stock during the break. "I don't think it's an off-week for us. We're going to work, we're going to rest. That rest is recharge. It's not a thing where we're going to be sitting on our hands," Keenum said. "We're going to go to work for a few days, and then we're going to recharge. We're going to recharge our batteries, we're going to hit the ground running next week. I think we're all ready to roll off a few games in our favor."
10/24/16 - QB Case Keenum will remain the starting quarterback for now, despite the Rams' 3-4 record and the four interceptions he threw against the Giants, one of which was returned for a touchdown.
In fact, Rams coach Jeff Fisher went to bat for Keenum after the game and insisted the fourth interception was because of a blown assignment by WR Brian Quick.
Keenum did throw for 271 yards -- but considering he threw 53 passes, that yardage number should be higher.
