Draft Scout Case Keenum News
04/03/17 - QB Case Keenum was signed by the Minnesota Vikings on Monday, re-uniting him with Sam Bradford. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but reports had Keenum signing a one-year deal. Keenum and Bradford were teammates with the then-St. Louis Rams during the 2014 season. After Bradford joined the Philadelphia Eagles, Keenum saw increased playing time.
04/02/17 - QB Case Keenum agreed to a one-year, $2 million deal, according to multiple reports. The Vikings are bringing Keenum in to serve as the backup to Sam Bradford this season. The health of former starter Teddy Bridgewater remains in question after the vicious broken left leg and torn ACL he suffered in August. Bridgewater is rehabbing the leg injury and it is uncertain when he will return. Keenum began last season as the starter for the Los Angeles Rams before eventually being replaced by No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff. Keenum started nine games and passed for 2,201 yards, nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
12/29/16 - QB Case Keenum, who went from starting quarterback over the first nine weeks to second string to now third string and inactive on game day, is likely facing the end of his line with the Rams this weekend.
With the club almost certainly going with rookie Jared Goff and second-year man Sean Mannion as their primary quarterbacks next season, Keenum is almost a guarantee to move on to another team. It's been a crazy last year for Keenum, who took over from Nick Foles with four games remaining in 2015, then was anointed the starting quarterback for 2016 in March only for the Rams to trade from the 15th pick to No. 1 to draft Goff last April.
And with the Goff writing on the wall, Keenum played with his shadow constantly hovering. It's a roller coaster ride Keenum is just now beginning to fully process.
"There's a lot of things, good and bad," Keenum said. "You learn from the bad and you try to improve upon the things you do well. Relationships that I've formed here in L.A. have been great. The community here has been great."
11/14/16 - QB Case Keenum was 17-of-30 for 165 yards and no turnovers. "I'm never going to take winning for granted in this league. I know how hard it is."
11/07/16 - QB Case Keenum was 27 of 46 for 296 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Keenum was frequently booed throughout the game by the hometown fans, who were apparently craving the pro debut of rookie quarterback and top draft pick Jared Goff.
Keenum heard it all.
"It's frustrating; I'm frustrated," Keenum said of the fans' reaction. "I'm glad they care. I do, I'm really glad the fans care. I care, too. I put a lot in this. I put a lot of hours, a lot of work into it. Something I've work for my whole life. I'm glad they care because I care as well."
Rams coach Jeff Fisher defended Keenum.
"I would submit that Case wasn't the reason we lost this game today. We just didn't make plays," Fisher said.
However, Fisher acknowledged that Keenum and the offense has to be more productive.
Keenum gave the Rams a chance, however, throwing a 10-yard touchdown pass to Kenny Britt with 34 seconds left in the contest and cutting the Panthers' margin to three points. But Los Angeles failed to recover a squib kick with 31 seconds remaining, allowing the Panthers (3-5) to prevail.
