Draft Scout Cassius Vaughn News
03/18/13 - CB Cassius Vaughn signed his qualifying offer with the Indianapolis Colts.
Acquired in a trade with the Denver Broncos last May, he recorded a career-high 70 tackles while defending nine passes, recovering two fumbles and intercepting a pass in 2012. He also returned 10 kickoffs for 209 yards.
12/13/12 - CB Cassius Vaughn has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 14. This marks the first time Vaughn has earned the award in his career. He recorded a three-yard interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter of the Tennessee game.
The interception was Vaughn's first this season and the second of his career. In addition, he led the team with eight solo tackles and three passes broken up.
12/10/12 - CB Cassius Vaughn is often described as a "hit and miss" kind of cornerback. Vaughn began the year as a valuable reserve. But with injuries to several players, including starter Jerraud Powers, he has gotten more and more playing time. Vaughn has found himself in the starting lineup in recent weeks and has made plays. Sunday, Vaughn recorded a three-yard interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter to give the Colts a 21-20 lead. The interception was Vaughn's first this season and the second of his career. He tied for the team lead with eight tackles and three passes defensed.
12/07/12 - CB Cassius Vaughn will remain in the starting lineup on defense while also being the Colts' primary kickoff returner. Indianapolis has struggled to get much consistency in his kickoff returns this season but Vaughn has averaged 20.9 yards per return (10 returns so far this season).
12/03/12 - CB Cassius Vaughn had the duty of guarding Detroit WR Calvin Johnson for most of Sunday's game. While Johnson hauled in 13 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown, Vaughn thinks he, and the rest of the Colts defense, did a passable job on the Pro Bowler. "This was a team win. It's not about individuals," Vaughn said afterward.
