Draft Scout Donald Butler News
02/28/14 - LB Donald Butler announced on his Twitter account on Friday that he re-signed with the Chargers.
"Feeling blessed! Y'all heard it here first! Deal is done!! SD I aint going no where!! Too excited!!" Butler wrote via Twitter.
The Chargers later announced that Butler signed a multi-year deal, but no specifics of the contract were reported.
Butler would have become an unrestricted free agent March 11, although both parties had said they expected Butler to re-sign with the Chargers.
Butler is the Chargers' defensive co-captain. He had 85 tackles, 16 assists and one interception during the regular season in 2013, when he played in 13 games, including 12 starts. He also started both of the Chargers' postseason games and added an interception.
01/14/14 - ILB Donald Butler (concussion) played throughout the game and was diagnosed afterward. No update was provided. Butler, once again, proved what a valuable player he is when he made an athletic interception in the end zone right before halftime to keep the Chargers in the game. Butler is a free agent and priority for the Chargers to sign this offseason.
12/09/13 - ILB Donald Butler showed more range and was active as he continues to put his groin injury behind him. Butler had his first interception of the season.
11/08/13 - ILB Donald Butler (groin) participated fully the past two days and is listed as probable. Butler has missed all but one play in the last three games, but he is making steady progress. Unless he suffers a setback, he has a solid chance of playing on Sunday.
11/06/13 - ILB Donald Butler (groin) was a limited participant on Wednesday and that has to be taken as good news. Butler has missed all but one play in the last three games, but he is making steady progress. Unless he suffers a setback, he has a solid chance of playing on Sunday.
