Draft Scout Jason Kelce News
06/06/14 - C Jason Kelce was asked whether he thought six-time Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters was the Eagles' most irreplaceable offensive player.
"I'd agree with that," he said. "Jason's extremely important, because he physically is better than every opponent he plays on a week-to-week basis. Occasionally, he'll get beat on pass protection, but those instances are few and far between. Especially toward the end of the season last year: He was on fire. In the run game, he gets unbelievable movement. He comes downhill with great force. In pass protection, you can leave him one-on-one, you don't have to worry about him at all."
02/28/14 - C Jason Kelce, the first 2011 draft pick to sign a significant second contract, received a seven-year deal worth more than $37 million.
"Jason is the epitome of the type of player we want around here, both on and off the field," coach Chip Kelly said in a statement of Kelce, who is one of the NFL's five highest-paid centers. "He's tough, extremely intelligent and is a leader by his actions and by his words. His athleticism is something that really sticks out when you watch him play. There aren't many centers that can get down the field like he does."
10/09/13 - -- TE Travis Kelce underwent micro-fracture surgery on his injured right knee this week and his status for the rest of the 2013 season is in doubt. Kelce suffered the injury in a preseason game on August 24th and has been rehabbing since. He showed the ability to run without problems, but when he was in a three-point stance his knee would not provide the necessary strength to start running. MRIs showed only a bone bruise, but an arthroscopic exam showed problem with cartilage right where the femur meets the knee. Kelce will begin rehab on Thursday and head coach Andy Reid said they would wait before making a decision on his status for the rest of the season.
09/18/13 - C Jason Kelce injured the thumb on his right hand, which is his snapping hand. But he said it won't be a problem for him.
09/16/13 - C Jason Kelce was wearing a brace on his thumb at practice Monday. He said it shouldn't bother him Thursday against the Chiefs.
