 Draft Scout Kevin Matthews News
04/27/10 - 2010 TITANS UNDRAFTED ROOKIE FREE AGENT: C Kevin Matthews - Texas A&M, was signed by the Tennessee Titans following the 2010 NFL Draft. - Tennessee Titans
04/26/10 - Tennessee also agreed to terms with offensive lineman Kevin Matthews of Texas A&M. Matthews is the son of Titans Hall of Fame lineman Bruce Matthews, who now coaches with the Houston Texans. Titans offensive line coach Mike Munchak, who is a Hall of Famer himself, will now get the opportunity to coach his best friend's son.
03/16/10 - PRO DAY RESULTS: Three Texas A&M players who did not participate in the NFL Scouting Combine produced outstanding workouts at the school’s pro day, which was held Wednesday, indoors on FieldTurf. Center Kevin Matthews, who is the son of Hall of Fame offensive lineman Bruce Matthews and cousin of current Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews, took advantage of his opportunity to impress the representatives from nine NFL teams in attendance. Matthews (6-foot-3, 298 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash — which was run on a rubber matting placed over the FieldTurf — in 5.32 and 5.27 seconds, had a 29-inch vertical leap, an 8-foot, 3-inch broad jump and posted times of 4.83 seconds in the short shuttle and 7.69 seconds in the three-cone drill. He also did 32 repetitions of 225 pounds in the bench press. Those 32 bench press reps would have placed Matthews tied for ninth among offensive linemen at the combine. Where Matthews really made his mark was with an exceptional performance in the position drills. – Gil Brandt, NFL.com
03/10/10 - Texas A&M football players who have completed their NCAA eligibility went through various drills and individual workouts for nine NFL football teams on Wednesday on the Aggieland campus. The three players from the 2008 squad were punter Justin Brantly and defensive backs Arkeith Brown and Alton Dixon. The top vertical jump was turned in by Jordan Pugh with a 40.5 leap with Arkeith Brown posting a 38.5-inch jump and Howard Morrow leaping 37 inches. Brown, Pugh and Justin McQueen all posted standing long jumps of over 10 feet. Kevin Matthews turned in the most reps in the 225-pound bench press with 32 reps followed by Matt Moss with 30. Pugh posted the fastest 40-time with a 4.48 clocking from the pro scouts with Brown right behind him with a 4.49 time. In attendance at the event was Indianapolis Colts' Super Bowl starter and former A&M defensive back Melvin Bullitt along with former NFL defensive line All-Pro and Aggie standout Jacob Green. They joined Aggie head coach Mike Sherman and the football staff in support of the players. - Texas A&M football
02/15/10 - PRO POTENTIAL: C Kevin Matthews - The two-year starter was the anchor of the Texas A&M line last season as the Aggies improved dramatically on offense and posted big numbers against strong opponents.
