Draft Scout M.D. Jennings News
09/04/14 - S M.D. Jennings was waived from reserve/injured with an injury settlement by the Bears Thursday (Sept. 4).
09/01/14 - S M.D. Jennings cleared waivers Sunday (Aug. 31) and was placed on reserve/injured by the Bears.
08/31/14 - S M.D. Jennings, signed in free agency after he struggled last year in Green Bay, was waived/injured.
08/18/14 - S M.D. Jennings has remained well down the depth chart, hasn't practiced with starters and occasionally gets second-team snaps. Normally the former Packers safety has been with the third unit.
06/06/14 - S M.D. Jennings continues to work as the first-team free safety while Chris Conte is rehabbing after shoulder surgery. Jennings is playing alongside another free-agent acquisition, strong safety Ryan Mundy.
The Packers didn't want to bring Jennings back after their secondary struggled last year.
"It was something I was prepared for going into free agency," he said. "It was out of my control. When they decided not to bring me back, it was no hard feelings.
"I looked at it as one chapter closing and another beginning."
However, Jennings definitely hopes to get the chance to show the Packers they made a mistake.
"Without a doubt, it's something that puts a chip on your shoulder," he said. "It's something you never forget. You just try to continue to get better and let that motivate you."
From Packer to Bear, it shows what kind of league it is in the free agency era when a player can don the other uniform and become part of a rival, much like former Bear Julius Peppers is doing in Green Bay now.
"I'm loyal to whatever team's helmet I put on," Jennings said "That's who I represent."
