Post-Draft Outlook:
A closer look at the Packers' picks: Round 2/56 -- Mike Neal, DE, 6-3, 294, Purdue: Hard-nosed player was primarily a tackle in college. Has ideal size to play end in the Packers' 3-4 scheme, but they also will utilize his pass-rushing skills on the inside in their subpackages. - by The Sports Xchange

 Draft Scout Mike Neal News
07/30/14 - OLB/DE Mike Neal practiced Wednesday for the first time in camp. The fifth-year player started camp on the physically unable to perform list because of a sore abdomen and missed the first three practices. The 6-foot-3 Neal, who is listed at 285 pounds on the team roster, revealed that he reported to camp at 263 pounds - the lightest he has been since high school - to make him better equipped to play outside linebacker in his hybrid role.
07/27/14 - DE/OLB Mike Neal is on the PUP list when the team held its first camp practice Saturday. Neal indicated afterward that he's been enduring soreness in his lower abdomen. He participated in the offseason program this spring, filling in as a starter at outside linebacker with Clay Matthews held out. Neal isn't expected to miss much time at the outset of camp.
07/26/14 - LB Mike Neal was declared active/physically unable to perform) by the Packers Friday (July 25).
04/01/14 - LB Mike O'Neal was re-signed as an unrestricted free agent by the Packers March 13.
01/06/14 - DE/OLB Mike Neal sustained an injury to his right knee in San Francisco's first series Sunday and didn't return to the wild-card playoff game, won 23-20 by the 49ers. Before undergoing an MRI exam later in the day Monday, Neal said he was told by the team's medical staff that he didn't incur a torn ACL in the knee. "I don't think it's anything real bad," Neal said. "It's just sore, stiff (with) no swelling. So, hopefully, it's just an MCL or something like that, one of those things that will heal on its own and I'll be good."
