The latest award comes after Masthay, as the holder on kicks, executed a fake field goal on a fourth-and-26 play by flipping the football to Tom Crabtree, who ran it to the end zone from 27 yards out for a touchdown in the 23-10 win over the Chicago Bears on Sept. 13. Masthay also held Bears return standout Devin Hester in check with solid directional punting.
09/18/12 - P Tim Masthay now has a perfect passer rating of 158.3 in his pro career. The first-ever pass by Masthay, the team's holder on kicks, resulted in a 27-yard touchdown by Tom Crabtree on a fake field goal on fourth-and-26 late in the second quarter to give the Packers a 10-0 lead.
09/12/12 - P Tim Masthay, who head coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday is "a weapon for us," has neutralized Devin Hester since Chicago's star returner ran back a punt 62 yards for a touchdown in Masthay's first game against the Bears as a Packer early in the 2010 season. Hester returned all three punts by Masthay in that Sept. 27 contest (a 20-17 Bears win) for an average of 31 yards. In the teams' four meetings since then (all Green Bay wins), only 10 of Masthay's 26 punts have been returned -- seven by Hester for a relatively pedestrian average of 11.3 yards with a long of 21.
