Draft Scout Tim Masthay News
09/09/13 - P Tim Masthay looks to be a natural for a new dual role of handling his customary punting duties along with kicking off. The strong-legged Masthay booted four of his five kickoffs into or out of the end zone in Sunday's season-opening loss at San Francisco and recorded three touchbacks. Masthay took over on kickoffs for veteran Mason Crosby, who, for now, is being able to solely focus on getting his field-goal struggles of last season ironed out.
11/08/12 - P Tim Masthay has maintained his league lead for punts placed inside the opponent's 20-yard line with 24 through the first nine games. He is only one short of his career high of 25, attained in his first season with the team in 2010.
10/24/12 - P Tim Masthay leads the league with 20 punts placed inside the opponent's 20-yard line after only seven games. Masthay's career high is 25 in 2010, his first season with the team.
09/19/12 - P Tim Masthay was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week on Wednesday. He is the first punter to win the honor in each of his first three pro seasons. The latest award comes after Masthay, as the holder on kicks, executed a fake field goal on a fourth-and-26 play by flipping the football to Tom Crabtree, who ran it to the end zone from 27 yards out for a touchdown in the 23-10 win over the Chicago Bears on Sept. 13. Masthay also held Bears return standout Devin Hester in check with solid directional punting.
09/18/12 - P Tim Masthay now has a perfect passer rating of 158.3 in his pro career. The first-ever pass by Masthay, the team's holder on kicks, resulted in a 27-yard touchdown by Tom Crabtree on a fake field goal on fourth-and-26 late in the second quarter to give the Packers a 10-0 lead.
