09/02/15 - LB Victor Butler had contract terminated by the Giants Monday (Aug. 31).
04/13/15 - LB Victor Butler has been suspended by the NFL for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs. Butler will miss the first four games of next season.
The suspension weakens Butler's chances of making the Giants' roster, as he already was competing against free-agent additions Jonathan Casillas and J.T. Thomas.
Butler, a fourth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2009, played four seasons in Dallas. He signed with the New Orleans Saints in 2013 but suffered a torn ACL during training camp.
The Saints released him after training camp last year, and he ended up playing in two games with the Indianapolis Colts. The Giants signed him after the season.
