Draft Scout Snapshot: The Chiefs did not make the AFC field for the playoffs last season, but that did not have general manager Scott Pioli trolling the draft waters for immediate help and contributors to his starting lineups. Instead, Pioli drafted like he's had a solid contender for several seasons, selecting eight draft picks that almost to a man, are down the line players for the Chiefs. "One of the things we talk about is trying to get this team bigger, stronger, faster, tougher and we feel in the last two days we have certainly gotten bigger, stronger, faster, tougher," Pioli said. "We've created quality depth and definitely created competition throughout the football team." BEST PICK: Tackle Jeff Allen: A four-year starter at Illinois at left and right tackle, Allen may be switched to guard with the Chiefs and compete with veteran Ryan Lilja for the starting job at left guard. - The Sports Xchange

 Draft Scout Jeff Allen News
11/05/12 - LG Jeff Allen left the game in the first half after taking a blow to the head. The Chiefs would not label the injury a concussion and Allen walked out of Qualcomm Stadium on Thursday night with no apparent problems. He took part in Monday's practice on a limited basis.
11/04/12 - G Jeff Allen moved into the starting lineup at left guard when center Rodney Hudson went out for the season and left guard Ryan Lilja stepped into the center role. The second-round draft pick has been up and down in his performances. At times Allen has looked good handling defensive tackles. On other plays, he's been run over by veteran pass rushers with more experience and moves.
11/04/12 - LG Jeff Allen will be re-evaluated Monday by team doctors after leaving the San Diego game with what the team said was a head injury. Allen appeared fine after the game, but whether he can return to play against Pittsburgh will depend on the doctors.
11/03/12 - LG Jeff Allen left the game in the first half after taking a blow to the head. The Chiefs would not label the injury a concussion and Allen walked out of Qualcomm Stadium on Thursday night with no apparent problems.
10/01/12 - LG Jeff Allen got his first NFL start on Sunday against San Diego, but he didn't finish the game as he left the field suffering from cramps. Replacing him for the last seven offensive plays was recently signed OL Russ Hochstein. Allen is expected to be ready to practice on Wednesday.
