08/12/15 - S Antonio Allen (torn Achilles) was waived/injured by the Jets Friday and was placed on reserve/injured the following day after clearing waivers. Allen was injured in practice Thursday. Allen, a seventh-round draft pick in 2012 who played cornerback and safety last year, was projected as a backup to Marcus Gilchrist and Calvin Pryor this season before he was injured on a non-contact play.
Allen had 118 tackles, 13 passes defended and 2.5 sacks from 2012 to 2014.
"It's a tough break for him," Jets coach Todd Bowles said. "He was having a good camp. He's a guy that comes to work, practices hard and he plays hard. Just a freak accident."
08/10/15 - S Antonio Allen's season is over after he suffered a torn Achilles tendon on the final play of practice last Thursday. Allen was waived with an injury designation Friday and placed on injured reserve Monday. The injury comes at a doubly difficult time for Allen, who is entering the final season of his rookie deal and was hoping to win a backup job under new head coach Todd Bowles. Allen scored two touchdowns -- one on an interception return and one on a blocked punt -- and recorded 2.5 sacks in his first three seasons.
12/15/14 - S/CB Antonio Allen (broken hand) was inactive for the Jets' 16-11 win over the Titans on Sunday. Allen was injured during the Jets' 30-24 overtime loss to the Vikings on Dec. 7. Head coach Rex Ryan was initially hopeful Allen could play against Tennessee, but Allen missed practice Wednesday and Thursday and was a limited participant Friday.
12/08/14 - DB Antonio Allen suffered a broken hand Sunday. However, coach Rex Ryan said Allen has been fitted for a cast and is expected to practice this week and play against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
