Draft Scout Antonio Allen News
11/18/13 - FS Antonio Allen (concussion) was active Sunday but played just three snaps in the Jets' 37-14 loss to the Bills. Allen, who suffered a concussion against the Saints on Nov. 3, appeared healthy but has lost his job to the recently signed Ed Reed. Allen has 49 tackles, four passes defensed, one sack and one interception -- which he took back for a touchdown against the Patriots -- this season.
11/04/13 - SS Antonio Allen (concussion) was injured while tackling the Saints' Mark Ingram in the third quarter Sunday. Allen didn't return to the game but has the Jets' bye week to recover and pass the NFL's concussion protocol. The injury brought an end to a hard-hitting, eventful game for Allen, whose first-quarter hit on the Saints' Darren Sproles left Sproles concussed. Allen also struggled to contain Saints tight end Jimmy Graham in the first half before committing a holding penalty that negated an interception by Antonio Cromartie one play before Allen was injured.
10/25/13 - SS Antonio Allen (groin, finger) returned to full practice Friday and is probable.
10/23/13 - --SS Antonio Allen (groin, finger) was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday. Allen limped off the field in the fourth quarter of the Jets' 30-27 overtime victory over the Patriots on Sunday but returned after missing only a handful of snaps. He is expected to play against the Bengals this Sunday. Allen played a big part in the victory by returning a Tom Brady interception 21 yards for a touchdown and minimizing the damage inflicted by tight end Rob Gronkowski.
09/05/13 - SS Antonio Allen will draw the start for the Jets in their season opener against the Buccaneers on Sunday. Allen and Jaiquawn Jarrett spent all of training camp battling for the starting job opposite Dawan Landry. Jarrett seemed to be in the lead for much of August, but Allen capped his preseason in impressive fashion by returning an interception for a touchdown in the exhibition finale against the Eagles. Allen, whom the Jets selected in the seventh round of the 2012 draft, bounced between the active roster and the practice squad last year, when he finished with a sack and a fumble recovery in seven games.
