Draft Scout *Justin Blackmon News
08/26/16 - WR Justin Blackmon who hasn't played in a game since being indefinitely suspended on Nov. 1, 2013, for another violation of the league's substance abuse program, avoided jail time this week when a judge accepted his guilty plea and gave him a one-year suspended sentence and probation for a driving under the influence arrest last December. Blackmon was first suspended for the first four games of the 2013 season by the NFL for a failed drug test. In July 2014, he was arrested for marijuana possession.
04/28/16 - WR Justin Blackmon pled guilty to a misdemeanor DUI charge, according to published reports. Blackmon's plea was for an arrest on Dec. 21 in Ardmore, Okla. He is slated to be sentenced on June 8. Blackmon has missed the past 2 1/2 seasons after being suspended indefinitely in 2013.
07/26/14 - WR Justin Blackmon's latest arrest in Oklahoma for possession of marijuana showed the Jaguars receiver is not close to making a return to the NFL. Blackmon was suspended indefinitely on Nov. 1 last year for violation of the league's substance abuse policy. It was his second such suspension that season after he was forced to sit out the team's first four games.
When Blackmon received his second suspension last season, the team could have released him at that time but refused to do so. Team officials from general manager Dave Caldwell and coach Gus Bradley have said they have had little communication with Blackmon since his suspension. Yet, Bradley and team owner Shad Khan continued to show support for Blackmon, even after yet another potential violation of the league's substance abuse policy.
"We want him to get well as a human being," Khan said a day after Blackmon's arrest in Edmond, Okla. "And then once he's well, the league will decide if he's fit to play and at that time it will be time for the Jaguars (to decide).
With Blackmon's latest arrest, the earliest he's likely to be able to return to the NFL would be for the 2015 season.
07/24/14 - WR Justin Blackmon was arrested in Edmond, Okla., and charged him with possession of marijuana, according to multiple reports.
Blackmon was reportedly stopped for a traffic violation, and police officers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from his car. A search found marijuana, and Blackmon was taken into custody.
It is the third arrest for Blackmon, who is currently suspended indefinitely by the franchise. following his third violation of the NFL's substance-abuse policy.
Blackmon served a four-game suspension at the start of last season following his second violation during the 2012 offseason.
The former Oklahoma State star caught 64 passes for 865 yards and five touchdowns in 2012, but has run into a string of off-field issues that have put his NFL future in jeopardy. He was arrested in 2010 in Oklahoma on a DUI charge that was reduced to underage drinking and again in 2012 following a traffic stop in which he failed a breath test that showed his blood alcohol content to be three times the legal limit.
10/28/13 - WR Justin Blackmon caught four passes for 31 yards but had a key drop against the 49ers.
