Draft Scout Jarrett Boykin News
03/28/15 - WR Jarrett Boykin signed a one-year contract with the Panthers Friday (March 27). Boykin, 25, played his first three seasons with the Green Bay Packers. In 2013, he caught 49 passes for 681 yards and three touchdowns. But, in 2014, he took a backseat to rookie Davante Adams and caught just three passes for 23 yards in 13 games. He became a free agent at the start of the league year when the Packers elected not to tender him as a restricted free agent.
Boykin played high school football in Charlotte, N.C., where the Panthers are based.
"It means a lot being from the area and having the opportunity to come back and get a chance to play for the Panthers," Boykin told the team's website. "But at the end of the day, it still boils down to how I go about my business on the field. I have to prove myself all over again."
The Panthers' receiving corps is fairly light behind 2014 first-round pick Kelvin Benjamin and veteran Jerricho Cotchery.
03/12/15 - WR Jarrett Boykin wasn't tendered as a restricted free agent by the Packers Tuesday (March 10).
03/08/15 - WR Jarrett Boykin, restricted FA update, quickly became a shell of the young up-and-comer who delivered as a pass catcher in 2013. That season, the former undrafted free agent had 49 catches for 681 yards and three touchdowns. Last season, which included the arrival of second-round draft pick Davante Adams, Boykin saw the field little and finished with all of three receptions for 23 yards and zero end-zone visits.
10/20/14 - WR Jarrett Boykin was activated for Sunday's contest after he missed the previous three games because of a groin injury.
10/16/14 - WR Jarrett Boykin practiced in limited fashion Thursday for the second straight day. Boykin has missed the last three games because of a groin injury. Head coach McCarthy indicated the team's evaluation of Boykin on Friday should determine whether he has a shot at being activated for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
