Draft Scout Carter Bykowski News
12/10/14 - To say Carter Bykowski considers himself a good fit for the Vikings is an understatement.
The offensive tackle signed off the 49ers' practice squad this week grew up five miles from Vikings headquarters. He won two state titles at Eden Prairie High School. He played under Bud Grant's son, Mike, a legendary high school coach in the state. And he's close friends with Bud's grandson Ryan.
"I was like, 'Yeah, I'm ready. Let's go home,'" the 6-7, 306-pound offensive tackle said Wednesday before his first practice.
Bykowski, a seventh-round draft pick of the 49ers a year ago, might even bump into Bud Grant at some point. Grant still spends a lot of time at team headquarters.
"He might not recognize me or remember me; I was 240 pounds back then," said Bykowski, who played tight end for two and a half years at Iowa State before switching to tackle.
09/01/13 - T Carter Bykowski was waived by the 49ers Saturday.

Carter Bykowski, OT (6-6 7/8, 306) - Bykowski ran the 40 in 5.31 and 5.46 seconds. He had a 28 1/2-inch vertical jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.72 seconds and did the three-cone drill in 7.85 seconds. He performed 25 strength lifts. Bykowski, who has 33 3/4-inch arms, opened his college career as a tight end and is capable of playing left tackle.
