 Draft Scout Quinton Coples News
04/24/15 - LB Quinton Coples had the fifth-year option on his rookie contract picked up by the Jets. Coples, 24, has only 16.5 career sacks and picking up the $7.8 million option gives the Jets another year to evaluate the 16th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft before potentially considering a long-term deal next offseason.
12/23/13 - LB Quinton Coples recorded at least half a sack for the fourth straight game Sunday, when he was credited with a half-sack in the third quarter of the Jets' 24-13 win over the Browns. Coples teamed up with Leger Douzable to sack Jason Campbell on the Browns' second series of the second half. Coples, who missed the Jets' first two games while recovering from a broken right ankle, had just one sack in his first nine games but has 3.5 sacks in his last four. He needs one sack in the season finale to match the 5.5 sacks he recorded as a rookie last year.
12/11/13 - LB Quinton Coples is finishing his second NFL season in impressive fashion. Coples has a sack in two straight games and has 24 quarterback hurries in his last five games. Overall this year, Coples leads the Jets with 39 quarterback hurries, is tied for third in tackles for loss (seven) and is fourth in sacks (three).
09/30/13 - OLB Quinton Coples could be facing a fine from the NFL for the hit that injured Titans quarterback Jake Locker in the third quarter of the Titans' 38-13 win on Sunday. Locker was leveled by Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson and Coples hit him again as Locker fell to the ground with what proved to be a right hip injury. ESPN reported Monday that the NFL will review the play to see if either Coples or Wilkerson should be fined.
09/27/13 - OLB Quinton Coples (right ankle) returned to limited practice Friday and is probable. Rex Ryan said Thursday was a planned day of rest for Coples, who suffered a hairline fracture against the Jaguars on Aug. 17 and underwent surgery three days later. Coples made his season debut in the Jets' 27-20 win over the Bills on Sunday.
