Draft Scout Marcus Dowtin News
12/11/13 - LB Marcus Dowtin, who had been on the Giants' practice squad, was promoted to the 53-man roster.
12/10/13 - --LB Marcus Dowtin was signed off the New York Giants off their practice squad to fill the spot left when RB Brandon Jacobs was placed on injured reserve.
11/13/13 - LB Marcus Dowtin was signed to fill the opening on the Giants practice squad. Dowtin was previously with the Jets, Eagles and Bills.
09/02/13 - LB Marcus Dowtin had a leg up on some of the players he was competing with this summer because he was with new defensive coordinator Mike Pettine last year with the Jets. But Dowtin earned his spot on the roster with some solid play in camp and the preseason games. He had an interception and a sack in the four games. "Anytime I'm out there on the field it's one of those things where I try to make every play a highlight," Dowtin said. "If I can help out the team in any way and a lot of the guys, then that's what I'm going to do."
As for his experience with Pettine, he said he relished his role of helping his teammates out with certain calls and terminology. "I want to make sure I help the other guys out as well. As of right now, until everybody else gets 100 percent, I've got to make sure I'm helping everyone else out and doing my job at the same time."
07/31/13 - LB Marcus Dowtin, a 24-year-old free agent claimed off waivers in April after being released by the New York Jets, was constantly around the ball in early camp drills. Dowtin is benefitting from knowledge of former Jets defensive coordinator Mike Pettine's multi-scheme defense that he's brought to Buffalo. Dowtin, 6-2, 226, has the kind of athleticism needed to play in Pettine's defense as a run defender, pass rusher and pass defender lining up inside and outside. On one play during the team's first practice, he ran down a deflected pass and made a diving interception. That's turning heads.
